2020-2021

A few words from Richard Cole on his becoming The High Sheriff of Rutland

As High Sheriff, I will continue to build on the work done by my predecessors in encouraging volunteering and focus on all those organisations that support the cohesion of the County especially those working with the less fortunate and with young people to help them make good life choices.

I have a keen interest in everything that makes the County distinctive and, whilst fulfilling the traditional roles of the High Sheriff, will involve myself with all activities help improve the wellbeing of everyone in Rutland.

It is my intention to support, encourage and recognise the statutory organisations, charities, voluntary groups and individuals who work to support and maintain the fabric of our society.

I am hugely honoured to be the High Sheriff of Rutland for 2020-21, a role with traditions dating back hundreds of years.

We are very fortunate in Rutland to live in a beautiful county with the benefits of very collaborative relationships between business, local authorities, the emergency services and the voluntary sector that promote the best opportunity for everyone in our community.

Coronavirus has made these difficult times for everyone but many hidden heroes have risen to the challenge across our towns and villages, we are all grateful for their sacrifice and commitment to others.

I am very keen to recognise this fantastic work at every opportunity … if you would like my support please get in touch.
